Preparation Guide (Part One)
As an event organiser I know how very common it is for people to arrive late, or not arrive at all (D.N.A = Did Not Arrive).
There’s various reasons (excuses) for this but the main culprit is poor preparation.
In order to fully commit to your intention to make friends, we need to make sure you follow through with plans.
The work you did in the prior lesson means there should be no commitment clashes.
You also accounted for the travel time to / from the activity / event.
And… I trust you followed the worksheet instructions and BOOKED tickets or RSVP’d YES.
These are all necessary steps towards commitment, which help you to visualise attending the event / activity to make it happen.
The Day Prior
The day before an event / activity begin your preparation.
– Double check the start time and location. This is usually found in a confirmation email.
– Use Google Maps to plan your travel (walk / ride / scooter / drive / public transport).
– Make a little note / list for yourself to follow incase you forget the details (example below).
– Check what to bring etc
– Determine what time you need to leave in order to arrive 15 – 20min early (for parking / pre-activity socialising).
– Bring extra cash / bank card incase the opportunity arises to go out after the event with people you meet (new friends!)
Knowing what time I have to leave (5:30pm in the example below) ensures I can plan to eat / cook my dinner beforehand so I’m not hungry whilst travelling or during the activity (that would make me hangry). As I prefer to eat home-cooked meals instead of fast-food take-away, I tend to prepare something in the morning for dinner (or the day before) if I know I’ll be short of time before driving to the event.

Choose an outfit in Advance
You may also want to think about what you’ll wear.
– Do a load of washing if need be.
– Have your clothes ready so you’re not wasting time trying on outfits when you’re supposed to be travelling to the venue.
Think about the journey
– Do you need a car charger or headphones to listen to music on public transport?
– What’s the weather predicted to be like? Do you need an umbrella if walking outdoors
